Structure
UNION-IP is mostly governed by the Executive Committee (ExCo) and the bureau for the daily business and contact.
Executive Committee (ExCo)
The representation of and responsibility for administering UNION-IP is undertaken by an Executive Committee (ExCo). The ExCo also possess all the powers that are not allocated by the Statutes.
The ExCo meets twice a year, and the meeting will be organized by the respective national group of the country where the meeting takes place.
The ExCo is constituted by delegates of the countries represented in UNION-IP, one delegate from each country.

The bureau is composed of a President, a Vice-President, the immediate Past President, a Secretary General, a Reporter General and a Treasurer. The bureau members are elected from among the members of UNION-IP. The Bureau members are elected for three years and, except for the President, can be re-elected indefinitely.
UNION-IP is validly represented in court and before the administrative authorities by the President or by another member of the Bureau.

General Assembly
The General Assembly must be called together every year and shall have the power of granting discharge to the ExCo, decide on modifications of the statutes and decide on the dissolution of UNION-IP. Presently, the General Assembly will be held on the spring ExCo meeting.

National groups
Each country having more than five members constitutes a national group according to the statutes of UNION-IP and is therefore represented in the ExCo with a vote.
Each national group has the right, not the obligation, to constitute a national body under the respective national law and to collect the membership fees within the national group. The membership fee for members of such national groups shall not exceed 50% of the UNION-IP membership fee determined by the ExCo.
