2026 UNION-IP Round Table Amsterdam
The Design Commission and the Software Commission of Union IP are joining forces for a Round Table in Amsterdam on Friday 13 November 2026. Under the theme “Design protection in the digital age”, the two Commissions look at what the EU Design reform and digital technologies mean for design rights in practice, from how a design is represented on paper to how it is protected on screen (or vice versa).

The Design Commission and the Software Commission of Union IP are joining forces for a Round Table in Amsterdam on Friday 13 November 2026. Under the theme “Design protection in the digital age”, the two Commissions look at what the EU Design reform and digital technologies mean for design rights in practice, from how a design is represented on paper to how it is protected on screen (or vice versa).

1) Design representation following the recent legislative changes
– new possibilities and forms of design representation
– Hague system and international developments
2) AI tools and design drawings:
– use of AI and software for preparing design representations
– effect of the chosen representation on the scope of protection
3)Protection of apps and GUIs
– apps, GUIs and animated designs
– filing and protection strategies
